We wrote this blog post because we often get asked the question – “ how much do uber drivers make ?” In coming up with the statistics discussed in the rest of this blog post we collected our information from the following sources:
- Publicly available Uber revenue statistics
- Statistics made available by Uber
- Driver interviews
- Estimations of earnings based on Uber rates per minute and mile (for individual cities across the globe).
“The results”:
- 18% of Uber Drivers are Uber Black drivers (More than 6 months on the platform
- 52% of Uber Drivers are Part timers (working less than 20hrs per week)
- 42 % of Uber Drivers work over 20hrs a week
- 20% of Uber drivers (1 in 5 drivers) work more than 40hrs a week

What types of insurance do i need to be an uber driver other than car insurance?
For most cities that Uber operates in, if driving for yourself, (for UberX), your car insurance is the only thing you need insurance wise.
Hope that answers your question. Just find a company that is Uber friendly, so that you don’t run into issues when you need to make a claim (if you ever need to).

I started on the 10th I grossed $265 and actual pay was 195
Are you sure no rides were adjusted? Are you renting a phone? Are you leasing a car through Uber? The disparity could be as a result of a number of things.

Well I drive for Uber black in Las Vegas Nevada I have an 07 BMW 550 I custom Monica blue really nice car however I never got any select passengers it’s all UberX said the pay is terrible and they take their fees so good luck
Hello Jonn. Why don’t you opt out of picking up UberX passengers? You should email uber so you only get Uber Black rides, if you are getting swarmed with UberX rides.

I have a Mazda 5 7seater 2007 model. if i were to work as “driver”for +- 3hrs a day to destinations in and around Johannesburg and surrounding areas including pretoria, basically a radius of 100km from Johannesburg cbd. What would be an average turnover i can make in a month.

b) As at today – May 12th 2016, We do not have a list of registered Uber drivers who are looking for cars.If there is enough demand for this, perhaps we can start something up.

In my experience, Uber Pays 1ce a week. (So about 1 week is usually a good estimate).

Per Uber Johannesburg – “you will need to have a South African drivers license to be able to drive on the Uber platform”. So you should be fine, as long as it is a drivers license that is South African.
Hello I need to know if I was once arrest for drinking n driving 2years back but never went to court but my finger prints were taken so I need to know if uber will allow me as a driver?
You probably will not pass the drivers verification phase, if you have a record of this. Uber takes driver verification (criminal & driving history) serious. You can always go through the process and see what happens. Let us know how this goes, and what city you are in, if you don’t mind.

Good Morning, I live in Kempton Park and would like to join Uber by providing a car to a responsible driver. I do not have any information whatsoever about how much the driver would make in a day. This would help me to make judgement of what deal I would make with the driver, in other ways it will help me to make a properly structured business plan. Kindly provide information on the following:

I am a partner in Lagos, Nigeria (I own 3 cars which I employed 3 drivers to drive for me. I suggest you give the driver a percentage of earnings rather than a salary.
In mine, and many other friends’ cases, we give our drivers 20% of earnings after all expenses (Uber fees, Fuel, Tolls etc) have been deducted.
Hi, I live in boyne city, Michigan. It’s a pretty small city, but a high volume population during the summer and winter months. The sad part is there is only two or three personal taxi services that are seldomly available. I bartend at boyne resorts and have guests continually ask me about uber or any taxi services. I know there is money to be made, but it’s currently not available in our city. Between a 20 mile radius there is at least 10,000 plus residents. With plenty of bars, a casino, resorts/lodging, and restaurants. What steps should I try to get uber in the area? Would it be profitable for uber and myself? Or is the area to low of a population?

Hi! I need some advice. When I attempted to sign-up for Uber, I realized I was filling out the wrong application. Since I don’t have the car I will use for Uber yet, I only wanted to sign-up myself….well, now I keep getting defaulted back to the original application, which is now stuck on the insurance docs request page. I’ve had a chat with Uber, but it didn’t fix the problem. It’s so frustrating because I’m ready to purchase a vehicle, but I want to make sure I’m approved first. Any suggestions?

Hello Quanza, I would suggest you keep trying to contact Uber directly. You can send a mail to Uber stating the problem. You can also use the application to get through to them. Uber will rectify the issue once it is acknowledged.

I got ahold of Uber live support chat, they told me my insurance and registration needed to be resubmitted, so I did that. I received a text this morning saying congratulations you are now ready blah blah blah click on the link below to get a started or whatever, so I did that brings me to the Uber driver sign in screen for the App. I go to sign in and it still says I’m deactivated. Any suggestions on how I may be able to fix this. Or possibly an explanation why it’s still doing this?

Both cars are not approved for uber in Nigeria; you need a 2005 sedan/hatchback Toyota vehicle model to partner with uber in Nigeria.
